Fellowship
Opportunities for Connection
At Christ Church, we cherish one another and gladly welcome newcomers. Radiant fellowship is one of the hallmarks of our parish life.
Coffee hour, held in the Parish Hall every Sunday, after the 10:15 a.m. service, is an easy way to enter and participate in our community. Members of the congregation provide refreshments in turn.
Community Dinners happen every Wednesday night at 6pm. Families from the church, school and our neighbors gather to share a provided meal.
For 35 years, parishioners at Christ Church have gathered for Agape Fellowship meals that help us become better acquainted with each other. Agape groups of eight or nine persons are formed each spring and fall and meet four times during the next six months in the members’ homes to share a potluck meal. The convivial meetings—usually but not always dinners—are scheduled at the convenience of the table members. The composition of the groups changes to bring different people together in each cycle. Singles as well as couples are welcome.
Parish Celebrations
Join us as we celebrate the feasts and seasons of the church year:
On the Twelfth Night after Christmas we celebrate Epiphany. We recall the three kings’ visit to the Christ Child with a shared meal and celebration, a candlelight service, and a Nativity tableau.
During Lent we gather for soup suppers and Bible study.
On Easter morning, the older youth hide thousands of eggs for our annual EPIC children’s Easter Egg hunt following the 10:15 a.m. service and attended by many from the larger Los Altos community, complete with food and a bounce house.
At Pentecost we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit with an expanded, celebratory coffee hour featuring food and friendship.
On the first Sunday of Advent, we make Advent wreaths to take home.
Christmas Eve brings a a late-afternoon Christmas Pageant with little angels, shepherds, donkeys, cows, kings, and baby Jesus and a candlelit evening service.
For more information about any of these events, or to get involved, contact our rector, the Rev. Claire, at claire@ccla.us.
Parish Retreats
We also like to take the time to get away together as a community to recharge and be refreshed.
We offer both a family retreat where every age and stage is considered and an adults only retreat that allows for more contemplative practice.
