Volunteer Opportunity at Elmwood Jail

The Episcopal chaplain at Elmwood Jail in Milpitas has invited faith communities to offer a supportive presence in the jail lobby. Volunteers from local faith communities are asked to sit at a table in the lobby on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:00-5:00 p.m. throughout the remainder of August and September. These volunteers will be present in the lobby, offering bottled water, wrapped candy, and flyers with reentry resources for inmates being released. If you are interested in learning more about volunteering as a friendly face for anyone being released, as well as jail visitors, please contact Madeline Gernaat at madeline.gernaat@gmail.com
