Contrary to popular opinion, the Twelve Days of Christmas do not precede Christmas. In the liturgical season of Christmas, December 25, is the first day. The Twelfth Day of Christmas is January 5. It is an old English tradition to celebrate the Twelfth Night of Christmas with feasting and parties, including choosing a King and Queen to rule over the festivities.
