The Ninth Day of Christmas
For the ninth day of Christmas, the Parish Choir sings Charles Wood's joyful arrangement of the Christmas carol "Ding! dong! merrily on high." This traditional carol blends a dance tune from the French Renaissance with a Victorian text by the Anglican priest George Ratcliffe Woodward. The arrangement is by the 19th-century Irish composer Charles Wood, one of the most influential pedagogues of the Anglican Revival; among his pupils at the University of Cambridge and the Royal College of Music were such notable figures as Ralph Vaughan Williams and Herbert Howells.
